Mumbai Trans Harbour Link

The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) is a 22-km road bridge in India connecting Mumbai Metropolitan Region with its satellite city, Navi Mumbai.

The road is also known as the Sewri-Nhava Sheva Trans Harbour Link that will start in Sewri, South Mumbai, crossing the Thane Creek area through a 16.5-km bridge and will terminate at Chirle village, near Nhava Sheva.

This colossal project will contain a 6-lane highway, which will be 27 meters in width, in addition to two emergency exit lanes: with an estimate of 70,000 vehicles per day, it will drastically help to alleviate the infamous traffic congestions of the Greater Mumbai area.

More than 35 years have passed since this solution was originally envisioned, and the actual construction began only in 2018.

Once completed, it will be the longest sea bridge in India.

Dextra was involved in this project by supplying more than 30,000 Sonitec sonic tubes for the determination of the structural integrity and homogeneity of concrete within barrette piles using the CSL (Cross Sonic Logging) testing method.

With a conveniently enlarged bell-mouth that allows the seamless connection of two tubes, the Sonitec system is extremely easy to install in reinforcement cages.
